The long walk on Wednesday 22nd July, left Littlebourne for Fordwich for the 10 mile circular ramble. En route the eight walkers were rudely met by a very loud cockerel, not so keen on being disturbed! One drawback of walking by the Stour is being bitten by mosquitoes. Little blighters.

Starting from Wye Downs, the long walk of 10 miles on 15th July took a route via Hastingleigh, which was enjoyed by a 13 strong group.

We started the 15th July’s leisurely 6 miler from Chilham Village and walked via Godmersham House. There was a piggy encounter on the 9.5 mile walk from Hothfield Common to Pluckley via Godinton Park on walking wednesday, 1st July. Like the walkers, they made the most of a rest in the heat of the day.

On Wednesday 1st July we climbed Preston Hill from Wingham Village  and followed lanes and woodland paths to St Mildred’s Church, Preston, where we had a well-earned drinks and tea bread stop, before the return circuit to the village. Despite the dark clouds we stayed dry!

There were 10 walkers on the leisurely ramble in Sandwich this week, 24th June, braving the high temperatures for 6 miles. The route went through the Gazen Salts Nature Reserve before heading to the beach and completing a figure of 8 walk back to the fire station. Many hydrations stops were needed!
